The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute is a research and education institute, based in Athens, Greece. The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute has the mission to foster and enhance innovation processes mainly in the areas of education and lifelong learning, human capital development and labour markets in Greece and in Europe, knowledge society and social inclusion.
The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute represents a rather unique integration of multisidciplinary expertise and “innovative thinking” drawing on a comprehensive and diverse knowledge base combining research methods and their application, network development and implementation, policy analysis and valorisation of innovative practices.
The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute team is comprised of professionals in the fields of adult education, lifelong learning and human capital development and have worked together for more than 15 years, jointly developing projects and initiatives with the ultimate goal of human capital development and social inclusion in a local, national and European level. People working or cooperating with the Athens Lifelong Learning Institute have provided the Institute with the energy and vision to continue promoting high quality services and new ideas in the fields of vocational training, adult education and social inclusion. Moreover, the Athens Lifelong Learning Institute has a large pool of associate partners [more than 1.000 adult trainers, educators and researchers] from which it regularly draws professionals to staff the lifelong learning activities and its research project.
The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute team has a long experience in the development of educational curricula and programmes that keep abreast to the new developments, social demands and European priorities. The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute exhibits an active interest in a number of social issues such as social inclusion, discrimination and suppression of human rights and has attempted through the implementation of innovative learning methodologies to moderate their impact. Currently, the Athens Lifelong Learning Institute is orientated towards issues related to the development of key skills and competences through innovative educational methodologies such as blended learning and distant learning.
Role in the project
The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute will undertake the responsibility of successfully replicating the Dutch National MediaCoach initiative in the Greek context. The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute, as an adopting organisation will perform:
• the preliminary assessment of the context in which the scaling up will occur.
• the translation, the adaptation and the cultural tuning of the MediaCoach initiative in the Greek national context.
• the delivery of the MediaCoach initiative to a total of one hundred (100) professionals working with youth in Greece.
• the scaling up activities required for the widespread exploitation of the MediaCoach initiative in Greece.
The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute will contribute both to the operational and financial management of the project with an equal standing to all other partners. The Athens Lifelong Learning Institute will participate equally
